    Easter Weekend Tramp Ruahines

Hey guys instead of going to the Ruahines, I'll be Running a camping trip at Corner Creek.

Its an awesome little free camping spot out by cape palliser (i think)

most likely be FRI,SAT,SUN but because its camping it can be as shorter or longer up to thoses coming and depending on transport some might want to come out for the night others a bit longer idk :)

there should be some day walks, swimming, camp games and definatly an easter egg hunt... but pretty much all the normal camp stuff. the more peps you can drag along the more fun it will be and difinatly let me know if your keen and have a car as we will need transport.

cost will be the cost of fuel to get there and back and food byo... dont forget marshmellows :P

sign up should be on the club website.

    Cheers missa

ps. sorry about the bad spelling :p

I could imagine to tramp over the Rimutakas to this camp, either
    • Mt Matthews, South Saddle and Mukamuka Stream or
    • Papatahi Track
Takes 1.5 days / one night ... and depends a bit on the water level in Orongorongo River and Mukamuka Stream....
     Anyone joining?
    Cheers, Achim

    Easter Camping Corner Creek

    Hi there!

By now it is not clear, whether we have a car available for the camping group. So we will have two options:

    • a car (to be organized) with up to five people for camping at Corner Creek and
    • a tramping group starting at Wainuiomata (that is reachable by bus) going over the Rimutaka Ranges and back.
Who can provide a car for this camping trip for Friday (afternoon), Saturday and Sunday?

Pak and Safe is closed on Friday, too.
    Cheers, Achim

    Easter Weekend Tramp Rimutaka Ranges

    Hi again!

(Never write too long replies, they are not read...)

Here comes a more detailed plan for Friday and Saturday tramping:

    Friday:

    • Start early at 8:05 AM at Wellington train station and be at the tramping track at 8:53AM (Sunny Grove, Homedale, Wainuiomata) (see http://www.metlink.org.nz ) Please be there 15 min before the train leaves.
    • Walk the (East) Whakanui Track into the Orongorongo Valley,
    • Mt Matthews Track and Mt Matthews (depending on clouds, time, mood),
    • down to the coast the Mukamuka Stream Track,
    • from there to the camp site

    Sunday:

    • probably off-track to Wharepapa Hut (short cut)
    • Papatahi Crossing and Whakanui Track
    • last bus from Homedale leaves at: 10:53 PM (before midnight in Wellington)

    Sunday:

Achim is baking a Käsekuchen, will need help to eat it up.

A good headlight will be required, who knows how late we run... Each day will be 9h+ walks,  Friday 600+800 m altitude, Saturday 900+600 m altitude. Please sort out food on Thursday!

Please let me know, if you join Stefan and me.
